Biography
Hilde was born in 1900, and in 1929 married the Viennese physicist Arthur March.[1] Shortly after their marriage, she began a long-lasting relationship with Arthur's friend and colleague, Erwin Schrödinger, apparently with Arthur's approval.
In 1934 she bore Erwin a daughter, Ruth.[2] Although Erwin was Ruth's father, Hilde had Arthur's name put on the birth certificate, perhaps as a nod to conventional morality.[3][4]
